Stand Up 4 Music will present the fifth annual Advocacy Day for Music Education at the capitol in Sacramento on Thursday, May 19, 2016. SU4M includes the following partnering organizations in 2016: the California Music Educators Association (CMEA); the National Association for Music Education (NAfME); the California Band Directors Association (CBDA); theCalifornia Chapter of the American Choral Directors Association (CA ACDA); the California Orchestra Directors Association (CODA); the California Alliance for Jazz (CAJ); the Southern California School Band and Orchestra Association (SCSBOA);the Northern California Band Directors Association (NCBDA); the Southern California Vocal Association (SCVA);the Music Association of California Community Colleges (MACCC); the California American String Teachers Association (Cal ASTA); and the Northern California Band Association (NCBA). - Support SB 916, Allen – Creating a Dance and Theatre Single Subject Credential.
Information
- Support AB 2248, Holden – California Commission on Teacher Credentialing (CTC) will be required to issue credentials qualifying teachers from out of state within 30 days.
This bill will address California’s teacher shortage crisis.

- In addition, the Coalition voted unanimous support for ACR (Assembly Concurrent Resolution) 124, Calderon, recognizing the California Arts Council’s 40th Anniversary, and SCR (Senate Concurrent Resolution) 112, Fuller, recognizing March 2016 as Arts Education Month.
