Barbershop Scholarship for Music Educators
Pacific Coast Harmony, a local chapter of the Barbershop Harmony Society, is offering a scholarship opportunity for music educators to learn more about barbershop during a weeklong course this summer. The scholarship covers attendance, room, and board at Harmony University in Nashville from July 21 to 28. A $200 stipend for airfare is included. Continuing education credits are also available. Using Music to Teach Mathematics Grant
As a way to promote music as a means to help elementary school students engage with mathematics, the Mathematics Education Trust, established by the National Council of Teachers of Mathematics (NCTM), is offering grants up to $3,000 to pre-K to grade 2 teachers who teach mathematics or collaborate with teachers of mathematics from pre-K to grade 2. Grant applications for 2020-21 will be accepted starting June 1. Qualifying teachers must be members of NCTM or teach at schools that are NCTM members as of Oct. 12, 2019.
